Christmas, uh Thanksgiving is Coming

I had to make a Thanksgiving craft to convince myself that Thanksgiving really is one week away!  Eventhough through the whole process Will-zilla kept saying "Christmas is coming" he was a great help!!

Supplies:
Toilet Rolls
Scrap Card Stock in various colors
Google Eyes
Pipe Cleaners

1. Prepare all your supplies:

  • cut toilet paper rolls in half
  • cut feather shape with template
  • punch small holes near bottom front of roll with hole punch
  • cut orange triangles
  • cut red ovals
  • cut pipe cleaner into 1/3s
 2. Have your little helper glue on google eyes, beak triangles, and waddle ovals all the while working on those fine motor skills and shape identification (and watching youtube at the same time).

3. Pull pipe cleaner through holes in roll and fold ends like feet

4. Glue paper feathers to the back.  Mommy was in charge of this since holding each one in place required lots of patience!

Our little turkeys will be adorning Mimi and Pops and Grandma and Grandpa's house in ONE week!  Perhaps we will use as napkin holders or place setting markers but either way we can say it was truly a joint effort!
Do you have Thanksgiving craft ideas for the kiddos?
Can you believe Thanksgiving is only one week away?
And yes, Christmas is coming just not soon enough for Will-zilla!

Home Sweet Home

AFTER
BEFORE

What better way to finally start my blogging life than to introduce you to our new look!  When we moved in over 6 years ago our house displayed light gray siding, dark gray trim, and purple accents.  Okay, not the most descriptive color names but that's now in the past and we have a new look and new colors!
Back in the early Spring we had a board replaced under our front window and we had the decision to make...what do we really think of the purple accents?!  Thanks to my awesome mother and father-in-law we have beautiful hostas across the front in the Summer months so that bought us some time to decide...thanks hostas for hiding the bare wood!

After "researching" on pinterest I became obsessed with YELLOW FRONT DOORS!  I LOVE YELLOW and knew I would love the warm, inviting look on the outside too.  We took advantage of the 65 degree Novemeber day and after two trips to Lowes started painting.  So, good bye purple and hello yellow!  What better friend to yellow now a days then GRAY?!?!  My friendly neighborhood Lowe's paint counter employees were challenged by my 6 year old can of gray paint so after heading back I found a close match and am thrilled how well the window and "column" match.  Our chintzy pole may be replaced eventually but I now have a current color to go by!:)
The fact that I am loving my colorful wreath (perhaps another blog post?!?) I am ecstatic over how it turned out!
I am thankful that my hubby was up for the change and pretty easy to convince.  I am hopeful I can incorporate every Holiday decor with our YELLOW and GRAY scheme.  Welcome to our home sweet home and welcome to my blog!
What do you think of the yellow and gray?
